Gauhati University Distance Education offers an affordable fee structure for candidates who want to pursue postgraduate courses, ranging from INR 5,500 to INR 15,000 per semester, depending on the selected course. The admission process will be conducted in two sessions: January to February and July to September.

GUCDOE began its operations in May 1998 with six courses and 514 students, before expanding into a learning institution with modern equipment. It now serves over 15,000 students with a variety of courses at more than 90 learning centres.

GUCDOE Admission 2026

The last date to submit the admission form will be 31 October 2026 and GUCDOE will release soon the application forms for admission. Gauhati University’s Centre for Distance and Online Education offers a variety of postgraduate courses, including Master of Arts (MA) in subjects such as Assamese, English, Economics, and Education, Master of Commerce (MCom), and Master of Science in Information Technology (MSc IT). The duration of these courses is 2 years, consisting of 4 semesters, with a fee range of INR 5,000 to INR 15,000 per semester. 

Students must have completed their undergraduate degree from a recognised university or college in any field to be eligible for admission to GUCDOE. For MSC (IT), candidates need to give an entrance exam or selection test, and admission will be based on the result of the entrance exam. 

Candidates who want to apply for distance courses need to visit gucdoe.in and register. After registration, candidates can choose the course they wish to pursue and fill in all the required information, such as name, contact details, date of birth, and more. They can then select a learning center according to their convenience. After completing the process, candidates need to pay the registration fee of INR 250 via online payment mode.

For MA and MCom: Students must have completed their undergraduate degree from a recognized university/institution. There is no minimum percentage cutoff to get admission in the courses offered by this university. 

For MSc (IT): Candidates seeking admission in the M.Sc. (IT) should hold a degree in BCA/ B.Sc. (IT)/ B.E./B. Tech. (CSE or IT). The university conducts a separate entrance examination specifically for this course. Only candidates who qualify in the exam are eligible to proceed with the registration process.
